The visitor centre, located in the Avoca building, is the starting point for your visit.

Visitor Centre and Avoca

The Visitor Centre at Malahide Castle serves as a central hub for visitors, offering a range of services and information. It is your point of entry for the Walled Garden and the exotic Butterfly House. Take a minute to stroll around the garden exhibition inside the Centre before heading out to explore the garden itself.

It is located in the courtyard of the castle and provides the following:

Warm Welcome

The visitor centre at Malahide Castle is a valuable resource for visitors, providing a warm welcome, essential information, and a memorable shopping experience. Start your visit here and stop by the Admissions Desk for a personalised overview of the attraction's many experiences.

Café and Restaurant

The Avoca Café within the Visitor Centre offers delicious food and beverages, making it a great place to relax and recharge.  

Ticket Sales

Visitors can purchase tickets for castle tours, garden access, and special events at the Admissions Desk in the Visitor Centre, located in the Avoca Building.

Gift Shop

The Visitor Centre houses a gift shop offering a variety of souvenirs, books, and local products.

Exhibition Space

The Visitor Centre often hosts exhibitions showcasing the history and heritage of Malahide Castle and Gardens.

Information Desk

Staff are available to answer questions, provide recommendations, and help with itinerary planning.

Malahide Outdoor Store

Outside the stone facade of Malahide Castle, mannequins styled in winter jackets—one in white, another in red—grace the entrance. Nearby, children's winter outfits adorn smaller mannequins, with a sale sign enticing passersby on the sidewalk.
