West Lawn
Covering 20 acres, the West Lawn was originally the site of a deep moat that protected Malahide Castle in medieval times.
Now the West Lawn is a peaceful green space dotted with trees, ornamental wooden sculptures and home to the magical Fairy Trail.
A paradise for photographers, some of the best views of the castle are in this area. Nature lovers can find rare trees from all over the world. Look out for the famous Cedar of Lebanon, Tasmanian pencil pines and Chinese Ginkgo trees.
From time to time, the West Lawn may be closed for private events. Closures will be posted to our social media pages so please do check Facebook and Twitter in advance of your visit.
Your castle tour ticket includes entry to the West Lawn. Gardens tickets are also available separately.
Open from 9.30am. Last entry at 4.30pm in summer (April to October), 3.00pm in winter (November to March).
