Walled Garden
A treasure trove of exotic flora, the Walled Garden started life as a kitchen garden to cultivate fruit and vegetables over 200 years ago.
The final Baron of Malahide, Lord Milo Talbot, was a passionate botanist and his dedication and expertise created the space as we know it today.
Popular all year round, there’s something new to discover and admire here every season. As you walk down winding stone paths, find Isobel Talbot’s pond, the blooming Rose Garden and the famous Victorian Conservatory. You can’t miss the grass parterre; a mesmerizing maze of gravel and grass inspired by the intricate carvings on the Oak Room wood panelling.
The Walled Garden at Malahide Castle is also home to the only Butterfly House in the Republic of Ireland.
Visitors can enter the Walled Garden via the Visitor Centre, where an interactive exhibition offers the background and history of the space. Your castle tour ticket includes entry to the Walled Garden, interactive exhibition and Butterfly House.
Open from 9.30am with last entry at 4.30pm all year round.
