Are you a skilled Maintenance Worker with strong Carpentry experience? We are looking for a motivated and hands-on individual to join our dynamic team at Malahide Castle & Gardens, one of Ireland’s most iconic heritage and event destinations.

About the Role

This is a varied and engaging role involving general property maintenance, event prop building, repairs, painting, and basic plumbing. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring our buildings, equipment, and public areas are kept in top condition to support both day-to-day operations and special events.

As part of our facilities team, you will be involved in both routine and ad hoc tasks across our historic estate and event venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance tasks and minor repairs (e.g., locks, walls, light fittings)

  • Carry out carpentry work such as cutting, assembling, and installing wooden structures

  • Build, maintain, and install event props and displays

  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems (e.g., ventilation, safety alarms)

  • Troubleshoot and fix plumbing or basic electrical issues

  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces as needed

  • Collaborate with external contractors and team members for larger repair projects

  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in carpentry with knowledge of wood properties and building materials

  • Skilled in using both manual and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, hammers)

  • Good understanding of installation and construction techniques

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Physically fit with good stamina and manual dexterity

  • Good communication skills and fluent in English

  • Basic understanding of mathematics

  • Flexibility to travel between sites and work weekends when required

  • Willingness to follow all safety procedures
