🎭 About the Movie Wicked
Before she was the Wicked Witch of the West, she was just Elphaba. Misunderstood because of her green skin, a young woman forges an unlikely but profound friendship with Glinda, a student with an unflinching desire for popularity.
Following an encounter with the Wizard of Oz, their lives reach a crossroad, taking them on two very different paths toward becoming Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Note: This is a Sing-A-Long screening! Lyrics will be provided on-screen so you can belt out “Popular” and “Defying Gravity” alongside Elphaba and Glinda.
🌙 Stick Around for the Evening Feature!
Not ready for the fun to end? Join us later that evening for a true Irish classic:
“It’s a snapper, Sharon!”

The Snapper (1993)
Relive one of the most beloved Irish comedies of all time against the historic backdrop of Malahide Castle. Part of the legendary Barrytown Trilogy (alongside The Commitments and The Van), The Snapper is a heartwarming, hilarious, and unapologetically Dublin look at family, gossip, and unconditional love.
📅 Event Details (The Snapper)
- Date: Sunday, 14 June 2026
- Time: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM IST (Doors open 30 minutes prior)
- Location: Malahide Demesne, Malahide, Co. Dublin
🎭 About the Movie The Snapper
Twenty-year-old Irish lass Sharon Curley (Tina Kellegher) still lives at home with her mom (Ruth McCabe), dad (Colm Meaney) and many siblings. But notoriety in her small town suddenly arrives in the unlikeliest of forms when, after a boozy night on the town, she becomes pregnant and refuses to divulge the identity of the baby’s father. Eventually, the not-so-proud dad is exposed, bringing new levels of embarrassment and complication to the devout Roman Catholic Curley household.
🧺 What to Bring
To make the most of your afternoon on the castle grounds, we recommend:
- Picnics: Feel free to bring your own snacks, though local vendors will be on-site with treats and refreshments.
- Seating: Low-backed camping chairs or picnic blankets.
- Weather Wear: This is an outdoor event! Bring sunscreen and shades but keep a cozy jumper or raincoat handy (it is Ireland, after all).
📍 Location & Parking
The screening takes place on the lush lawns of Malahide Castle. Please follow directional signage upon entering the Demesne. Public transport via the DART is highly recommended, as it is just a short walk from Malahide Village.
